I'm so confused! DANCE OR THEATRE?!?

Ok, so I am going to a school for performing arts next year....my sister goes for theatre already. I wanna go for theatre because I can see myself doing it in the future and I love acting however I love to dance too. The dance program is amazing and I love the school's dance shows (which are the dancers' shows they put together) and everytime I listen to music I can instantly think of a dance for it and I wanna put it on stage but then I don't know if that's what I wanna do for my career which is what these programs do. And my mom, and everyone else has said that I am an amazing dancer! I can't do both and I'm so confused! Please help! What do you think I should do?!

If you study dance first it will complement your theater talent later on.

You obviosly have a natural talent for dancing so go down the theatre avenue. There is always scope for dance in theatre and you will get a much broader training. A dancers life can be short, an actors goes on til they die. Plus theatre will help you if you ever decide to do choreography, you will learn all about what looks right and works best on a stage.

Theatre all the way!
Follow your heart, young lady. Should you elect to 'do what others wish', in time you could find you made the wrong decision. Trust yourself, possibly for the first time in your life, you are being tested. Respond to your inner need.
well try dance first mabey for a year and if u like it and still want to do proforming arts also the do that part time
Place your feet in the path your heart walks and you will have "No Fear!" Always remember what is truly important in life and then share it so others can have the chance to grow.
First, congrats on the school! As to theatre or dance, follow your passion. You sound like you enjoy theatre, but have a true love for dance. The real choice is yours, but don't base you decisions on your friends or your sister. Best of Luck!
if you do what you love and love what you do you will be happy.

Do whateve make YOU the happiest and that YOU can see yourself doing all the time.

Are the side stalls any good in Sydney Opera House Concert Hall?

The stalls directly on the sides of the stage

They are OK. The sound is better down the middle. You can see very well from the side stalls, but the sound isn't as good.

Does anyone know what is playing at the Opera House in Boston on Jaunary 31, 2007?

There's nothing on the schedule for that date, yet, but "Lord of the Dance" is onstage January 27th. After that, nothing until March 8th.

Hi there,

You can check out the schedule at http://bostonoperahouse.com/events.html. It looks like there is nothing playing there on that day. Sorry!

Explain the design and structure of the sydney opera house?

The Sydney Opera House has a 93-page document that tells you everything you want to know about the design and then some.

Legally Blonde: The Musical on MTV?

Ok, so, im majoring in musical theatre in high school (ya, we can take majors if we want to in my school), but unfortunately, we have NO good theatre (especially musical theatre) around there so I am desperate for something. I used to live in Conncecticut so I used to be able to see a lot more shows on and off Broadway, but not the case where I live now. Although I am seeing Hairspray at the local performing arts center in November, and The Drowsy Chaperone and Le Miz in December, I want to see something now. I didnt know this until like today, but they filmed Legally Blonde: The Musical on MTV and I wanna see it. I tryed looked at the schedule on the website (I NEVER watch MTV) and I could not find it, so does anyone who actually watches MTV know when its going to next be on. Or, if you filmed it, and you would send it so me, ill give you my address. Thanks

Can anyone give me a ballad from a broadway musical?

I am auditioning for a high school of the performing arts. If I get in, I will be transfering my sophmore year. The audition requires that I have one broadway song, which I already have prepared, and a ballad from a broadway play. I am having difficulty finding a ballad. My range is from alto to 2nd soprano. I also must have a monologue from a play. I am aware of many monologues from movies, television shows, and books, but am also have a bit of trouble with this. Please help, if you can. I am a female and a freshman in highschool.

I'm an alto (ish) also! ^.^ Here are a few of my favorites to sing... Some these aren't ballads but I've sung all these songs with much success, so this can give you an idea of my range so you can compare it to yours. I'll put stars (***) next to the ones I consider ballads.

1) ***"Your Daddy's Son"- Ragtime (This is God's gift to altos, if you can nail it and are a good belter, this would be amazing!)

2)(*** "Hold On") or "A Fine White Horse"- Secret Garden (Hold On, could be a bit of a challenge to add acting things to, but it's still pretty, and Fine White Horse, is just a fun jolly song)

3) "Roxy"- Chicago (this song isn't too difficult to sing range-wise and you could add some playful things to enhance it)

4) "Crime of the Century"- Ragtime (I ADORE this song, it's so cute and there is alot to work with)

5) ***"Every Tear a Mother Cries" - Honk (This song is very passionate and is sung by a soprano in the play but is written in an alto range, beware though some of the notes go pretty low)

6) "All the Jazz" - Chicago (need I say more?)

7) "Macavity: The Mystery Cat" - Cats (I'm auditioning for our school's production with this song next month, there is a lot to work with, it's very dynamic)

8) "Heavy" - Dream Girls (If you can sing with enough soul this song has the potential to be very impressive)

9) ***(this song is sort of a ballad, you can listen to it online)"He Wanted to Say" - Ragtime (I'm currently playing this role at my school and the character that sings this is a very powerful and influencial character, the song has so much meaning to it, this song go kind of low as well)

I would try On my Own, from Les Miserables. It's a commonly known song, but I've never heard anyone sing it at an audition. If sung correctly, it's beautiful.
For a Ballard from a Broadway show, try "Light My Candle" from Rent.
