Eveyone should have to follow this.?

Clown Creed 2000 - clown rules for the new millenium

Clowning is a performance art. We exist to perform. Our obligation is to prepare ourselves for effective and entertaining performances.

The primary expectation of our audiences is that we will bring humor into their lives. While delivering humor we can also do many important things such as teach lessons, praise God, help heal troubled souls, and many other worthwhile things. We do these things within the context of our art form and with the understanding that our primary purpose as clowns is to comically entertain.

Clowns are of human nature. Clowns are not representations of fictional characters. Clowns are not figments of the imagination. We are human, we are real and we are alive. The clown is an essential part of our human soul. We nurture and care for the clown in us so that it always continues to grow.

We respect and learn from clowning's rich past. We also understand that clowning has always changed and grown to adapt to the society of its day. We must not force artificial constrictions on the development and advancement of clowning simply in the name of tradition. Conversely we must not abandon tradition for the mere sake of change. Change should come as natural extensions and adaptations of our tradition.

Make up and costume are merely two of the many tools we use in our clowning. They are not what define us. Costume and make up styles do change and evolve over the years and will continue to do so. This is a sign of dynamic progress in our art form. No style of make up or costume is ultimately right or wrong (except in a historical context). Its ultimate criteria today is its effectiveness in helping the clown comically entertain.

Character development, thought patterns and styles of action are no longer predetermined by any particular make up or costume design. Character development determines make up and costume choices that highlight and augment character. Character development determines thought patterns and range of action appropriate to each situation.

Individuals, alleys or clown organizations may freely choose to impose upon themselves restrictions concerning costume, make up or action. Failure to adhere to these self imposed restrictions, however, does not preclude anyone from the enjoyment of participation in the art of clowning. Alley and organizational rules are applicable only to those who want to belong to that specific alley or organization and do not speak for the entire clowning world.

Clowning is one of the most free and open art forms. It can incorporate aspects of all other art forms. Clowns are free to show expertise or feign incompetence. Clowns are free to explore. Clowns are free to succeed or fail in their endeavors. Clowns are free to laugh and cry. Clowns are free to relate to young and old.

Clowning is, and ought to be, inclusive and not restrictive.

Hmmm. Well, maybe someone else will read through the whole thing, but maybe they won't. If that's the case, I might as well get first in line for points. Who knows? Maybe they will give me ten. People have certainly called me a clown before. It couldn't hurt to try.
Ok, have to think on that one.
Bring on the Clowns!!!!!!!

Hi there,

It sounds to me that you need to focus on building your professional networks, as well as skills in communicating about your artform and your aims.

I would suggest that you think about what YOU can offer to the promotion of your dance form, then write some aims about what you would like to do, and think of ways to link the two together, identifying any gaps.

Example ' What I can offer'

- I can deliver interesting high quality performances of odissi dance.

- I can deliver workshops to adults and young people to teach odissi dance.

- I can talk knowledgeably about the history and origins of odissi dance

- I have 5 days a month I can set aside for developing and delivering this project

Example Aims

In the next 18 months :

- To bring odissi dance to new audiences in the UK

- To perform 4 times in Manchester, 2 times in Birmingham and 2 times in London.

- I would like to deliver at least one workshop with each performance.

- I would like to give one talk with each performance

Example Identified Gaps

- I have no written resources explaning what odissi dance is and what i can offer

- I have no video (dvd/cd-rom) explaining what odissi dance looks like

- I dont know of any audiences for this type of work in the uk

- I have no connections with promotors of dance in the uk

- I have no financial resources to support this project

- My dance teaching skills are rusty

- I have no platform to show promoters my work

Then start calling and emailing people, tell them about yourself what you are trying to do, and ask them respectfully for their help. (Not just telling them they should be promoting you!)

If they can't help you directly ask for a referal to someone else who might be able to help, and would really appreciate any advise and information they can offer.

Start by contacting the Arts Council representative for your artform in your area(s) www.artscouncil.org.uk. I think it is:

Does anyone know Damien Rice's setlist for his May 14th Civic Opera House concert?

Sorry. I tried to find some information for you, but I came up empty handed. :^(

I have to make a model of the inside of the paris opera house. Cam someone help me????

It has to have the phantom's lair, the torture chamber, auditorium, christine daae's dressing room, and the underground lake! HELP its due next wednesday!

Another option is to print good quality color images of the Opera Garnier's interiors to use as your backgrounds. Mount them on foam board, then use small props--a full length mirror, chairs, a gondola, etc.--and red, curtain-like cloth. You could spray paint a small canoe black to make the Phantom's gondola boat. Use another mirror and a bare tree prop with a noose to create the torture chamber. See the official Lloyd-Webber musical site and the Opera Garnier images on Goggle below to get some inspiration and create your backgrounds.

A round or oval mirror always makes a good lake. Red drapery.

Doll's chairs, just enough to suggest the auditorium, and the dressing room...

In fact if I were you, I would visit a place that had doll-house furniture in it, and look for wooden things...

Another place that may be good to visit is a place catering to the wedding set, or a floral shop-- they also often have "littles" that represent "bigs."

They may even have some good ideas for you. Have a wish-list of what you'd like to find, and best of luck to you!

Does anyone know of any good books on meditation?

Particularly books that show you how to perform different types of meditation. Books that are related to the martial arts and meditation are also a plus, as well as any books relating to chi kung or nei kung.

Chi Kung, you can buy the Chi Kung original book it's $75.00

It's worth owning if you are serious about it.

Meditation. All you need to know is. Simple. Relax your body one part at a time. Just get silent within your self.

Martial arts trains their people to just see black.

I like to visualize on (One-Thing) it helps you get to a goal faster.

You don't need a book to get their.

Visual art for concert?

i'm thinking of performing in my town's outdoor music festival. it's a kinda small but there's a lot of publicity. i'm going to be dj-ing some mixes from my computer but i need something else to make it more exciting. any ideas? i was thinking of adding video art (like have a projector showing videos to go along with the music) but that's a lot to do and a lot to buy. does anyone have any ideas of what i could add to my set to make it more visually interesting?

Visual art for concert?performing art center

I would have someone to help you while you mix the tunes:

take several web cams , take stills of people faces and show them on the screen once every 5 seconds or so. There are many free picture sideshow programs that can help but you would still need to take the photos int he first place while they are enjoying your work
