Want to do something?

Before I start I have an admin job. I use to be a singer in a rock band and I left because I was starting to find it boring the band were not very good at discusing Ideas. Ive always wanted to do something in performing arts at least as a hobby but im 21 and I have no hobbies. I see my friends allot and things but I just wish I did something as a hobby. Id really like to sing in a band or act but I dont know where to start. Im not an amazing singer but I can hold a note lol I think I sound just as good as some pop singers (not all no im not christina agulaira). But I am a good actor I always got good roles in shows at school and college. Where do I start? Any ideas. Id love to be like Avril lavigne or work on corrie - those are just dreams though as I have a mortgage and im realistic. Any ideas please.

Want to do something?performing arts

Most cities/towns have at least one community theatre group in the area, most of them doing musicals over the summer, some of them doing a combination of musicals and straight plays year round. You could try a simple Yahoo search, or look in the performing arts section of your local paper and get in touch with the companies to find out the audition process.

If it's a band you're looking to be in, check notice boards at coffee shops and bars; there are often flyers for people looking to form bands, or you can post one yourself!

If you're just looking to pursue acting and/or singing as a hobby, the possibilities are endless. As far as a career goes, it can often be much more difficult, especially if you have no industry connections. I don't know much about the music industry, but if you'd like to better your chances at an acting career, improvisation classes are a must, and acting training is highly recommended. You'll also most likely need to join a union at some point (AEA for theatre or SAG for film/TV) which can take a while.

Either way, people find both music and theatre to be very rewarding hobbies, even if they can't actually make a living of it. Best of luck to you in your endeavors!

Want to do something?binoculars opera theater

If you're in London, take a trip to the Southbank and have a look at what's happening there. It's an artsy environment and you might get some leads from there.
go to your community theater
Well good on you for deciding you want to do something. You should check out what Amateur Musical Socities there are in your area. This is how I started out when I was 10 years old - played Brigitta in The Sound of Music. It was great experience and you make wonderful friends.

Go along to any of these groups and you'll have a great time. They have them in towns across many countries, performing plays, musicals, dance recitals - you name it.

The important thing is that you start somewhere, and these societies are as good as anything.
see your local job centre or look in local papers for drama theatres
Well you should definitely check out local theater groups.

As for your dreams... DREAM BIG!!!!!!!! You HAVE a day job, so you ARE being realistic... chase those dreams!
Community theater.
Not sure what's around for you at night, but perhaps a bar with an amatuer night, if you've got the knack to sing? There are normally local rags with bands advertising for singers, and you can be up front about your other commitments. Maybe you'll find a pack of folks like yourself who are just looking to scratch that itch to perform.

As for acting, that's a bit rougher in that you usually don't get as much input on your expected schedule. But what if you attended a drama class, instead of performing? Sure it might cost you some money, but at least you'll know the schedule is more fixed, and you'll meet other people who may have the same interests.

Best of luck!
u can start by engaging them in bringing up their own ideas too.some with ideas may feel it's stupid.but by the time you all bring your ideas together, you'll definitely come up with something nice.left hand washes the right hand, right hand washes the left hand, both hands becomes clean.
You're kidding right? First, it's "a" "lot" Two words. You need to stop living in some little fantasy world of your own creation. Obviously, if you used to be some sort of singer in a rock band (they are a dime a dozen) and you never made the big time or progressed beyond that in the business, then your talent was indeed limited and so were your connections. If you are NOT an amazing singer (by your own admission) with loads of the right connections in the business, then frankly, I would work to pay that mortgage and move toward a more realistic goal. You sound like you cannot decide if acting is for you, or singing, or what, and frankly, I think you are looking for us to tell you what you already know. It's time to grow up, get real, and set your sights on something truly attainable. This is not to say you cannot join your local community theater to satisfy your performing desire, but come on, you are never going to make it in the world of rock and roll, or in Hollywood. I think you already know that fact.
